Less than 1% of the planet’s water is fresh water suitable for domestic use, irrigation and industry, and according to the World Health Organisation, just 0.007% is readily available for human consumption. By 2025 the UN expects that 3.5 billion people will experience water shortages, as rivers and lakes empty, aquifers dry up and droughts spread – rather alarmingly this figure could be as high as 7 billion people by 2050.

As the world’s population continues to grow, increasing pressure will be placed upon our planet’s water resources. The threat of climate change will only exasperate the problem.  However, this is not confined to just the developing world and without a drastic rethink of how we handle water, the richer countries may not avoid their own water crisis!

Water conservation is key and over the next few pages you will find all the information you require to reduce your own water consumption.
