Awards and Recognition 'The Lost World Project' has received

2010 has been very productive year for Ibex Earth's 'The Lost World Project' and after the first phase of the conservation initiative we were delighted to obtain the following awards and recognition.

The project’s conservation goals gained formal endorsement from both the Zoological Society of London and the Royal Geographical Society. We are proud that both of these prestigious institutions have supported the project and we will continue to work with them both in the future to secure a positive future for the wildlife of South America's 'lost world'. Association with both institutions has allowed Ibex Earth to fundraise and make a donation of US $11,000 to directly support the conservation of the Guiana Highlands and Mount Roraima.

The Lost World Project filming expedition, which was completed in August and September 2010, received the esteemed Captain Scott Society Award, in recognition of the project’s conservation goals and spirit of adventure. This was a fantastic achievement by the team, which had taken in a nationwide tour of UK Universities in search of ten participants to join the filming expedition and take part in the learning experience of a lifetime!

And recently, video footage filmed during The Lost World Project featured on a BBC 2 television programme called 'Decade of Discovery', which looked to highlight the golden age of discovering new species over the last decade. The programme aired at 8.00 pm on Tuesday 14th December 2010 and was presented by Chris Packham. The documentary also featured an interview with Stewart McPherson, the world's leading expert on Mount Roraima and expedition leader for both 2010 and 2011 'Lost World Expeditions'.
